Some tips for passengers who travel by open bus trip in Vietnam:

Below are some tips from Chapi Tours to help your trip go smoothly:

  • The earlier you buy your ticket the better your seat. Seats might be assigned and some routes fill quickly.
  • Bring snacks and water. No food and drink sell on buses, so it’s a good idea to stock up on food and drinks before boarding (not alcoholic drinks though, they’re not allowed). Although the bus does stop en route, and some stops will have places to buy food but have a very limited selection of food.
  • Bring layers of clothing. It can get uncomfortably hot or cold. Consider bringing socks too.
  • Bring ear plugs and an eye mask if you’re sensitive to noise and light.
  • If you’re a keen photographer, or Instagrammer, take advantage of the opportunity for some scenic photos. Board in plenty of time so you can get a window seat for the best views. If you are traveling through the mountains and you have a fear of heights choose the aisle seat.
  • Bring tissues and a little bottle of hand sanitizer for your bus toilet experience.
  • The bus does make a few stops so try and get off a few times to stretch your legs. It helps you to feel a little less exhausted at the end of your journey.
  • Free Wi-Fi on most of the buses. You can also listen to music but make sure that you wear head-phones. There are also power points at nearly every seat on the buses so you can charge your devices.
  • Bring a map or guidebook to tell you more about the towns, cities and landscape you’re traveling through.
  • Bring some small change. Sometimes you need to tip the person unloading the luggage or you need to buy something at shops or food stalls that only accept cash.
  • Keep your valuable safe.

 HAVE A GREAT JOURNEY!
